Michael grew up in the orchard and farmland area of the Northwest United States. Despite the serene picture this normally painted in most people’s mind, The Reid Family that he belonged to was one of grifters and rum runners. The criminal family had done well smuggling Canadian Whiskey down to California during the Prohibition days and had a decent hold on Washington and Oregon criminally. The family wasn’t anything truly big time had constantly had to fight with the gangs of migrant workers who often would attempt to carve a piece of turf for themselves.
Michael Father wanted better for his family and moved them to the border of the family territory and even went legit opening an auto mechanic shop. However, the family duties constantly pulled him back into the world of crime. Michael largely stayed remove from the criminal empire, but did become involved in a turf war to help his younger brother who was eager to join the criminal syndicate. During a bloody rumble with a orchard worker gang couple combatant died and police managed to identify some of the Reid Family.
Michael joined the Army at his father’s request to avoid detection and possible imprisonment. As his father want’s his son to avoid the life of the criminal. During training, the Bureau of Arcane Defense noticed the potential of the recruit and discovered his dark secret. B.A.D. used this information to insure his secrecy with their agenda.
